Summer is flying by and while I have been able to create between my holidays, I am struggling to get my videos edited and my blog posted! So these cards flash back to July and to celebrate two of my nieces birthdays!
This first card uses Concord& 9th's "Hugs & Cuddles Bundle".
I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks (Salty Ocean, Lucky Clover and Squeezed Lemonade) to create a background panel measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".
I inked up the heart shaped sentiment stamp (and the sentiment banner) with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Rangers White embossing powder, making sure that my heat gun was nice and hot before bringing it to the project to avoid warping of the panel.
I die cut the Hugs sentiment 3 times to add dimension and after I adhered it I put a coat of Nuvo Crystal Drops on top to add some shine.
I popped the sentiment banner up with some foam squares and embellished the background using more Nuvo Drops and some enamel dots purchased from Aliexpress.com and that finishes the first card for my niece Zoe!
This second card is for my niece Grace and again I am using a stamp and die cut bundle from Concord & 9th called "Say Hello". I am a big fan of this company as their stamps are very versatile and can be used for many occassions.
For this card a tried a new technique to me called "smooshing" (not sure if that is the technical term....but let's go with it!). I adhered some 90Ib. Canson watercolour paper to my surface with Thermo Web Purple tape. This stuff is awesome as it does not ruin/rip your project when you remove it. I then applied some Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Blue print Sketch, Wilted Violet and Victorian Velvet), one at a time to a scrap of acetate packaging, spritzed it with a water bottle and "smooshed" it onto the paper. This gives you a more controlled water colour look and you can continue to add colour to specific areas. I continued this process with each colour drying it with my heat gun in between to speed up the process.
I wanted to add a bit more interest so I used some shimmer water colours (Really cheap from Michaels....I think they were Artists Loft brand?) and used an acrylic block and a paint brush to flick some drops onto the paper. (The first one you see in the video will be used in a future project)
For the orange background, I die cut the star from a stitched star die that I purchased from Aliexpress. (If you are just starting out or are cheap like me, that is a great place to build your die cut collection!) I also added some Pearlex powder that I picked up at Michaels and used a dollar store make-up brush to apply to the top. I then spritzed it with some water to set the Pearlex and dried it with my heat gun.
I die cut the "Hello" sentiment 3 times from some black card stocked and stacked them to add dimension using some Tombow Mono glue.
For the background I used some Silhouette brand light yellow textured adhesive cardstock that I had on hand. (I often use my Silhouette machine when I create cards and other projects. It is a great machine and saves space if you don't like storing all your die cuts! You can check them out here... https://www.silhouetteamerica.com/) I layered the star die cut and sentiment on top. Heat embossed a sentiment strip using the sentiment found in the "Say Hell" sentiment stamp set with some Ranger White embossing powder (remember to use an antistatic powder tool to achieve the best results!). I popped up the sentiment strip with some foam squares. To add some interest I added some enamel dots and embellished the "Hello" with Glossy Accents and that finished the card off!
I have listed the supplies below and you can see the video of the process for both cards here: https://youtu.be/8LnlW6pHCaw
I hope you enjoyed today's cards!
Have a great day!
